Yet another piece of very exciting news to share with you all!
I'm delighted to announce that my painting 'Curiosity' has been chosen to feature in this year's IMG Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London in November:
Curiosity, oil on canvas board, 30 x 30cm
The Discerning Eye is a visual arts focused educational charity, established in the UK in 1990. They aim to encourage a wider understanding and appreciation of the visual arts, to stimulate debate about the place and purpose of art in society, and the contribution each one of us can make to its development. They hold an annual exhibition that has been sponsored by IMG for 25 years.
This year's annual exhibition will be at the Mall Galleries from 17 to 26 November 2023, and online until 31 December 2023.
The show is famous for its selection process. Six prominent figures from different areas of the art world - two artists, two collectors and two critics - select from publically submitted works and works by personally invited artists, allowing the opportunity for emerging artists to exhibit alongside more established names. Each selector chooses independently and their choices are hung separately, resulting in the impression of six small exhibitions within the whole.
This years selectors are:
- Tony Adams, Former footballer and Collector
- Eliza Gluckman, Director, Government Art Collection
- Chris Levine, Artist
- Peju Oshin, Critic, Curator, Writer and Lecturer
- Ian "H" Watkins, Singer and Collector
- Julian Wild, Artist and Lecturer
It's an amazing opportunity to present my work to six distinguished selectors, exhibit in central London and also have the opportunity to win prizes totalling over £14,000. The awards include the ING Purchase Prize, worth £5,000, and celebrate a wide range of art media from all regions of the UK.
Having just returned from attending the RSMA Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries at the end of September, I really didn't expect to be attending another Private View at the same venue so very soon afterwards!
