ABOUT THIS ARTWORK

An expressive beach scene with coastline backdrop and tempestuous stormy sky above. Combinations of soft neutral greys with shots of magenta, violet and turquoise.

There is a dichotomy here in both the title and in the language of the paint. The stormy neutral colours act as a foil to balance the unexpected pops of vivid colour.

The intent was to capture that idea of feeling two opposing sensations at the same time. For example, relationships (with yourself or with others) can be both tender and tempestuous and still achieve balance.
