As an artist and teacher, I firmly believe in the philosophy that learning should never end!

Last month, I embarked on a new personal adventure—as a student on a professional development painting & drawing course. This decision stems from my deep-seated belief in the value of constantly pushing my own creative boundaries and stepping out of my comfort zone.

The course is online, blending pre-recorded classes with live mentorship sessions. It’s a fantastic mix of flexibility and real-time interaction, and I’m excited to see how it unfolds.

Who knows what exciting new paths this course might lead me down. I don't expect to suddenly change tack completely, but I'm interested to see how exploring other subjects might inform my landscapes by giving me a change of perspective and some different techniques.

This is a full on 1 year program. Although I’ve only just started, I already feel invigorated by trying some different subjects that are definitely outside of my comfort zone: Pears, Peacocks & Portraits!

These are a few examples of my coursework so far - all very different from what I'mknown for as a landscape artist! But, I think they're worth sharing with you, just so you can see how much I'm being stretched! If you are interested, you can read more about my decision to do this here.

Anyway, that's it for now, got to go... I'm off to a life-drawing class! Thanks for reading.
