An epic fail!

An epic fail!

Ever feel like your paintbrushes need to go sit on the 'naughty step' until they can do as they're damn well told!?

Back when painting was just an occasional hobby for me, the most predictable outcome was that my lovely bright colours would turn to mud and my fresh lively brushstrokes would end up overworked.

What I imagined would be an exuberant, vibrant form of self expression would end up looking more like a stagnant pond!

But here’s the thing – with practice, experimentation, and my fair share of 'happy accidents', I’ve learned to avoid those struggles, to trust an established process and just enjoy the journey.

Take this terrible early attempt for example!

In my head this was going to be a light, colour-filled, atmospheric masterpiece that transported the viewer to the coast!.... It wasn't and it didn't!

In fact, it just turned into a soupy grey mush that was more depressing than uplifting. Epic fail.

I could have given up there and then, (I thought about it to be honest) but I just kept going, failing and learning, failing and learning... FOR YEARS!

Contrast that to a more recent painting of a similar subject and you can see the difference is like chalk and cheese.

The moral of the story is obviously don't give up, but also don't make it hard for yourself by failing over and over, like I did, without actually understanding how to fix things.

Over the past few months I’ve been quietly beavering away behind the scenes planning a series of online masterclasses and courses to help you improve your painting in a much simpler and more direct way than I did! It doesn't matter whether you’re a nervous novice, or you're already a budding artist who just gets frustrated with your results), I'm confident these sessions WILL help.

They're designed to boost your confidence, sharpen your skills, and simplify your painting process. They are both affordable and 'do-able', all from the comfort of your own home. I’m incredibly excited about these new classes and can’t wait to see how much they will help you.

Keep an eye out for more details and the official launch of the first class, happening very VERY SOON!
