Painting in progress: Precious time

by | Jul 9, 2021 | Insights

Blocking in the base layer of another new painting… It’s always fun starting something new because there’s no pressure, it will mostly get covered up by more layers of paint!

As the layers build up the colours and textures become more subtly complex.

I decided to add a different element to this by using metallic gold oil paint in places to add some warmth and richness. A little goes a long way but I’m enjoying how the gold catches the light differently depending on where I stand.
It’s rather fun playing with gold oil paint and a harmonious colour palette, varying the line between representation and abstraction.

And finally, the finished painting which is now framed and available to buy on my website:

Precious time, oil on canvas, 51 x 51 cm
