Insight: The appetite for adventure
It was a joy making this painting! I was playing with the line between a representational ‘view’ and an abstraction of it; at the same time pushing the contrast between thick & thin layers. You see in the sky? Where the clouds in places are finely blended wisps of paint, they look almost vaporous, and then there are slabs of full bodied paint that bring the main cloud shape forward in an exuberant yellow statement! I love it when elements like this come together.
The appetite for adventure, oil on canvas board, 30 x 30 cm
In case you’re wondering about the title; there’s a feeling of travelling through the landscape but also a personal feeling of ‘adventure’ that came from the painting process.
