Sometimes a painting just seems to paint itself. The times where this happens are blissful and magical. It’s like God, or if you prefer- some other universal ’force’,  guides the creative process and everything just comes together.  Suddenly you realise that hours have passed and a painting has appeared on the canvas with what seems like little effort.

This state of ‘flow’ is the most joyful experience for all artists, but it is elusive and can’t be forced. You cannot demand it to appear, if you do it runs away and is replaced by frustration. It comes when you are relaxed and open; like a reward, that is gifted to you when you are loving and grateful.

This painting was one of those gifts. It ‘flowed’ out in an exuberant rush of colour and emotion, so it’s always been one of my favourites. ?
