Have you have always wanted to try working with oils, but feel daunted? My fun, 4-day, intensive workshop ‘Get to Grips with Oils’ will teach you everything you need to know about using these slippery but extremely satisfying paints.
The second oils workshop this year takes place Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th August and will provide you with clear instruction, demonstrations and practical exercises to help you master this medium.

Duration: 4-day workshop
Date: Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th August 2022
Time: 10 am – 5 pm (Lunch 30- 40 mins starting at around 1 pm)
Max places: 10
Cost: £385 per person
You will gain:
- an understanding of how ‘oil’ behaves differently than other types of paint and how to control it
- a range of oil painting techniques, including; staining, glazing, impasto, and sfumato (fine blending)
- the confidence you need to paint with this rich and rewarding medium and the knowledge to approach it fearlessly!
NB: Some painting experience is advisable for this workshop!
PLEASE NOTE: We will be using low odour solvents and other solvent based materials during this workshop so if you have any health concerns or are unsure about anything please contact us for a chat before booking!

All materials and equipment are provided but if you have your own items you would particularly like to use, or a personal sketchbook/notebook, then feel free to bring them with you.
Get to Grips with Oils takes place in my spacious and well equipped studio in the heart of the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. All materials and equipment are provided and included in the cost so all you need to do is turn up with a willingness to learn and have fun! A complimentary light lunch and refreshments are available throughout each day.
SJB Fine Art Studio is located just a mile or so from Newgale Beach, close to the popular village of Solva and Britain’s smallest city of St. Davids with its historic buildings and stunning scenery. There is plenty of local accommodation to suit every taste and budget.
