Sarah Jane Brown – AGSA

Sarah Jane Brown is a UK artist. Her expressive  paintings are an outpouring of personal feeling, using the landscape metaphorically to describe thoughts and emotions. She combines traditional and contemporary practice, using a wide range of oil painting techniques. Sarah lives in the heart of the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in West Wales, where her environment, and previous maritime career, have instilled a deep affinity with the sea.

She studied Fine Art (Painting) at the West Wales School of the Arts, graduating in 2010 with a first class honours degree from the West Wales School of the Arts. Since then Sarah Jane Brown’s career as a full-time professional artist has steadily gained momentum and recognition. She has now shown her work in over 90 exhibitions including 10 successful solo shows and numerous prestigious exhibitions in London, such as the ‘Cork Street Open’ in Mayfair, at the ‘Royal Cambrian Academy’ in Conwy and with the ‘Royal Society of Marine Artists’ at the Mall Galleries, London. She has also exhibited as far afield as New York City and Barcelona, and her work is now collected internationally.

Recently she has been featured in articles for various Magazines, appeared on television twice, and been interviewed several times on BBC Radio about her work. She is a qualified Associate Member of the Guild Society of Artists

Our surroundings form a part of us, shaping our perception, and colour our thoughts and ideals. For me they are a vehicle to describe more internal aspects of our physical, emotional and spiritual selves. There is something about being immersed in nature that gives clarity and focus to the space within. My approach to landscape painting is therefore introspective and intimate.
